Skincare by type

If the label says "For oily skin"...

This applies to those whose skin produces a lot of oil or sebum. Due to overactive glands, excess oil is produced, which will appear as an oily sheen on the surface of skin. The extra sebum tend to clog pores, which is why pimples and acne are usually associated with oily skin. Because of oily sheen on the face, people with oily skin tend to over clean their faces, thinking they're getting rid of the oil. In fact, if you clean your face too much(more than the twice-a-day regime), you are stripping your skin of moisture as well, which leads to dehydrated skin. You should choose a product for oily skin, as it'll contain ingredients to control oil production. The products will be water-based, instead of oil-based. It will also have a moisturising effect. Again, do not confuse moisture with oiliness. Use a product for oily skin if your skin becomes greasy very fast and you are prone to breakouts or acne...

If the label says "For combination skin"...

You have an oily T-zone (the area on your forehead and down your nose) but normal or dry skin on your cheeks. Choose products made for combination skin in this case. People with combination skin will experience the same symptoms as those with oily skin - pimples, acne, breakouts. Again, choose a product that is water-based, takes away excess sebum and replenishes moisture. The only different between combination and oily skin is the area affected. On oily skin, the whole face area will be oily...

If the label says "For dry skin"...

Your skin is dry and flaky, and need extra moisturisation. Usually older women are faced with this problem. Those with dry skin may also have sensitive skin. Skincare that's catered for dry skin will have an added moisture boost. Usually those with dry skin will use hydrating product...
